This audio editing software is a full-featured professional audio and music editor for Windows and Mac. It lets you record and edit music, voice and other audio recordings. When editing audio files, you can cut, copy and paste parts of recordings, and then add effects like echo, amplification and noise reduction. WavePad works as a wav or mp3 editor, but it also supports a number of other file formats including vox, gsm, wma, real audio, au, aif, flac, ogg, and more.

Capriccio is our biggest Orchestral collection yet, both in terms of physical size and in terms of sound, which is just...BIG!

We had conductor Petr Pololanik approach the limits of his Capellen orchestra for these recording sessions, and the resulting energy, drive and power really comes across in each and every sample. Each phrase has been carefully treated from conception through production to implementation in the final instrument, to make sure it would work as a whole, and be as widely usable as possible.

We say it is big, and the sound is big, but as you can hear from the demos the sound has a diverse range of uses and is only limited by your own imagination. You can use Capriccio as a base for your composition, or to complement your existing piece, using only bits and pieces. It can be really loud and awe-inspiring, or gently set the mood.

If you are familiar with our previous orchestral instrument 'Grosso', Capriccio's user interface should look quite familiar. The basic structure of the instrument is the same, using 4 presets each divided in 3 layers, but there are many innovations within Capriccio that will make working with this library even more intuitive and flexible. Highlights include the 'phrase offset' slider, separate volume setting for release tails and MIDI drag/drop from the score view in the interface, straight into your DAW.

With Capriccio we’ve brought phrase-based sampling bang up to date. Throw away your preconceptions of stiff one-shot samples and use the power of the Capriccio interface to harmonise, syncopate, offset and blend every one of the 38,000 samples. We’ve wrung every bit of creativity and flexibility out of these phrases and built a bespoke interface that will allow you to do the same.

Despite advancements in sampling technology, you simply can't beat the realism of live played phrases and orchestral patterns so our goal is to make these as playable as possible, like a real instrument, with the minimum of end-user programming. These instruments are meant to stimulate your creativity, and based on the feedback we are getting, that is exactly what they do.

Please watch our range of videos if you want to know more about Capriccio’s inner workings. There are many 'hidden' features that will enhance your user experience a great deal if you know how to use them. For example, with Grosso we added 'bar sync' but for Capriccio we also added 'phrase offset’. These things are very complicated in terms of under-the-hood programming but we’re sure that the intuitive interface makes it easy to realize the potential of features like this.

All phrases for Capriccio are composed in 4/4, with straight 8th and 16th notes.

We have also included a 'runs' instrument with strings and woodwinds runs, a gorgeous and eminently playable multisampled percussion patch and a melodic percussion instrument containing Xylophone, Glockenspiel, Tubular Bells and Piano phrases.

Tape echo effects were invented towards the end of the fifties. Presumably the very first tape echo machine was invented by Charlie Watkins of London, England, in 1958. It was based on a small loop of 1/4" tape onto which audio was recorded by a magnetic head and then read by three separated heads. What was read from the tape was amplified by the internal all-valve circuit and eventually recorded back to the tape, creating the feedback or "sustaining" echo effect. The delay time of the unit was determined by distance of the write head from the read heads, in conjunction with the speed of the tape. Many manufacturers of this era produced their versions of echo machines, mostly based on the magnetic tape system. The famous Binson Echorec was based on a circular drum head with a metallic magnetic stripe. It was used by Pink Floyd at the time of their album "Echoes". Another famous tape echo machine was the Maestro Echoplex, heavily used by pianist Herbie Hancock. Other notable units were the Selmer TruVoice Echo, the Dynacord Echocord, along one of the most famous and widely used from 1973 to present day: the Roland RE-201. This particular model has a tape loop about 4 meters long which is recorded, read and erased continuously. It consists of one erase head, one write head and three pick-up heads, which when combined with the variable speed DC capstan motor allows many different delay configurations. This machine also offers a reverberation effect based on a spring reverb tank. The combination of echo and reverb gives an "ethereal" ambience effect which eventually inspired the engineers so to name it "Space Echo".
Nowadays these machines are very sought after but quite rare to find on the market, and their evaluation increases year after year. There are many aspects that make the tape echo stand out from a modern digital delay. Here are a few of the main features:
1) the unpredictability. A capstan motor is never perfect like a digital clock signal, resulting in slight variations of the delay times and pitched sound.
2) the frequency response and dynamic range. A magnetic tape is not as clean and flat as a digital recording. Especially a loop of tape which is cyclically erased and re-recorded many times in a short time lapse.
3) noise, hum, distortion. Defects that a digital system shouldn't have, sometimes are wanted and can become "musically acceptable".

There is one way only to obtain all of this. To get the real thing.
Actually there's a much affordable and easy alternative: to use an accurate digital simulation.

GS-201 is an accurate simulation of a japanese Tape Echo machine of the early seventies, featuring:
Distinctive dynamic range and frequency response
Realistic response to the panel controls
Motor "wow and flutter"
Sound degradation and distortion at high feedback levels
Very natural hum and background tape noise
Three different kinds of magnetic tape models
Ultra-low CPU usage
Easy "MIDI Learn" feature

Tuned, captured, and performed with the utmost attention to detail, retaining the raw energy and conviction needed for a truly special sound. With great pride, we present the GGD Matt Halpern Signature Pack. V2.0 is an official Kontakt instrument which means you do NOT need the full version of Kontakt! Just load it into the free Kontakt Player and you can use GGD with no time limits or restrictions.

We created the Matt Halpern Drum Library to scratch our own itch. Virtual drums are an integral part of our creative process, and we simply couldn’t find a drum library that had everything we needed. We needed a library that had a truly full range of velocities, with everything from fluttery ghost notes to crushing full-power hits. Since we couldn’t buy what we needed, we made our own.

After assembling an amazing collection of drums featuring our favorite Mapex Saturn IV and V shells and Meinl cymbals, we booked time at Magpie Cage Studios (home to one of our favorite drum/live rooms) and got to work. After the session we walked out of the studio with a full range of articulations all impeccably tuned, performed and captured, encompassing all of the details that we couldn’t find in any other drum library.

A choir library has been on our to-do list ever since our company was in its infancy and now finally the time has come. This is not just any choir library as this project had to be approached Sonokinetic style, being as playable and flexible as a sampled choir can be whilst sounding completely realistic.

We spent a lot of time developing the engine driving Tutti Vox and we are very proud indeed of what we have achieved; a new approach and an innovative way of working with sampled choir.

Included in the package are three different tempo-synced instruments, focused on different elements of choral performance:

The main chunk is Tutti Vox Core, a large collection of unique vocal effects that warrant the name ‘Tutti’ because they are not dissimilar to (and hugely compatible with) our orchestral FX library of the same name. Think atonal risers, falls, crescendi, decrescendi, clusters, ethereal beds and a range of very cool ‘semi-random’ soundscapes that constantly evolve. Some of our loops are over 40 seconds long! Also included in the Core patch are full choir whispers: words, vowels, consonants and shouts, the other end of the spectrum. Whatever choir effect you need, Tutti Vox Core is your tool. It should be able to inspire and make your compositions instantly more human.

Common Controls

Tutti Vox consists of 3 different instruments: Vox, Lingua and Spoken:

Tutti Vox Core: Cinematic choir FX
Tutti Vox Lingua: Chants and sustains
Tutti Vox Spoken: Spoken words and phrases

Although each of the instruments has a distinct purpose and function, there are some controls which are identical for all 3. Let’s look at those first:

Microphone Selection
The samples for Tutti Vox have been recorded in the same hall as sister libraries Capriccio, Grosso, Minimal, Da Capo, Tutti and Vivace. As such, the ambient sound of Tutti Vox will blend perfectly with these libraries. The microphone positions available are: Close, Decca Tree, Wide and Far (balcony).

Select a microphone position by clicking on the graphic at the top of the interface. The chosen microphone position will be highlighted in red.

As Tutti Vox is a large instrument with thousands of samples, when you choose a new microphone position you should allow a second or two before playing, for old samples to purge and new ones to load.

Microphone mixing options are global and apply to the entire chosen patch of Tutti Vox.

The number of simultaneous voices using NI’s Time Machine Pro engine to stay in time is the reason we can’t offer microphone mixing on this instrument. You can work around this by opening a second patch on a different track using a snapshot of the first one upon mixdown, and choose a different mic position for that one, mixing levels in the DAW.

Full Keyboard
Use the keyboard icon to flip the colour of unused keys from black to white in all Tutti Vox instruments. This feature is handy for people owning a NI Komplete Kontrol Keyboard, as the black keys will shine in a purple hue on the keyboard, which can be confusing.

Key / Mod Velocity
Velocity can be controlled either by keyboard velocity (KEY) or mod wheel position (MOD). Click and drag this slider to select either, or a mix of a combination of both. Note that for the mod wheel to go down to complete silence you need to have the slider set to mod wheel completely, since the engine always takes a median of Key and Mod velocity and your key velocity will never be 0.

Tempo Syncing
All content for Tutti Vox was recorded at 110 BPM and almost every phrase within the Kontakt engine is tempo-synced to your host DAW. This means that the content of Tutti Vox should be especially easy to integrate with your own compositions.

There are a few exceptions which are not tempo-synced as they do not require it; most notably the one-shot samples such as shouts and whispers and the long sustain samples and abstract non timed beds.

Orchestral sampling with added Ooomph and Braahh!

Maximo fills a space in our phrase-based orchestral line-up that many composers working in media have been waiting for. Like the old adage, we didn't go home, we went BIG! Our enlarged and expanded orchestra worked overtime to play the biggest, baddest orchestral phrases possible. Not only is the sound huge, but the writing has been tailored to this specific set of instruments. Some phrases were composed specifically using unusual harmonic content like the odd flat 6th and flat 2nd intervals. We created a product that will fit in perfectly with any contemporary writing style.

Of course all of the stuff you would expect in a Sonokinetic phrase-based instrument is there, so if you've used any of our instruments before you will be able to put Maximo to work right away without any trouble. Within minutes you'll be adding this big amazing sound to your palette.

Using our midi drag and drop functionality doubling the orchestral phrases with a synth for that hybrid sound has never been easier. The full score is also available within the interface so you can peek under the hood and see what's going on compositionally with the phrases you are using and how the sound coming out of your speakers has been achieved.

Expanding the brass section and having them play their lungs out was a very visceral experience and we think it translates really well to the finished product. The sound has a 'kinetic' strength and brings about a joyous feeling that is hard to ignore. We've been smiling all the way through production with this one!

For the strings and woodwinds the emphasis is on the lower side of things too, with 8 double basses, 16 celli, 6 bassoons and a contrabassoon. We've made sure that the low content has enough pressure and presence to carry a mix all the way through, whatever you decide to add on top.

Ever since we started developing phrase libraries (and we've done quite a few now), we've been wanting to expand the harmonic material these libraries could output. We've never really been able to go beyond standard major and minor chords with our recorded phrases. There are many reasons for this; because our phrases are recorded live as a whole rather than constructed from smaller pieces, because there are hardware limitations to user's computers and because there are limits to the recording time we can allocate to a specific product while still keeping it affordable. Some of our products do contain different material, and with the harmonic shift function there are ways to approach things like 7th chords and sus chords, but until now we didn't have a way to play all the chords we wanted and also offer different inversions of these chords.

At the heart of the Ostinato series there is an entirely new process that we've been developing for quite some time now. From the recording stage, the entire approach is different from our regular phrase instruments in that we recorded separate intervals for various rhythm building blocks. After careful editing we combine these intervals through an intelligent script that builds them into chords in 5 different voicings and up to 4 inversions (the fourth only for 7th chords).

Not only does the engine build the chords based on the inversion you play in the chord area, but when you play in the harmonic shift area it will judge which inversion it plays based on the chord that came before it, the chord quality on the key you're in and the position of the chord you're triggering in that key. This ensures that transitions are smooth and harmonically correct.

Ostinato recognises and plays 12 different chord types, it is our first instrument that can handle diminished, half-diminished, augmented chords and many more. For a full list check the user manual.

This is the first product in this new line of instruments that will coexist alongside both our Orchestral Series and our Phrase-Based libraries, bridging the gap by doing one specific thing exceptionally well... ostinato chords.
